Goodbye Sweet Home...

I just moved out of my beloved apartment in Kensington. It was the most wonderful time, I created and experienced so much there. When I first moved in I painted a picture on the wall one crazy sketchy afternoon. It was there from the begining to the end. Here are some pictures that I took of it, right before I left.

A Portrait.

Here is my most recent pieces from my art show. Enjoy.

Adolf Born

Many visual memories I have from being a child come from the books my family had in our home. My parents collected so many books, and sometimes I would just sit on the carpet and look at all the different books we had. The ones I was most interested in were the ones with the pictures...obviously. There were these two books in particular that I loved. They were czech cartoon books, by an artist named Adolf Born. I practically memorised all of the images. Born has such a humor that I adore. Resently I found a calendar (also hidden at my parents house) with these amazing pictures. I soon discovered that it was the same artist as the cartoonist that I loved so much. Here are some of his later pieces. I tried finding the cartoons that I used to read, but had a hard time. I will try to scan a few from the book, when I get a chance. But for now, here are just a few that I could find. Such playful beauty...

Oil Paint Kills Brain cells

I found a few quote by Salvador Dali, that I really loved.

"Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad."

"I don't do drugs. I am drugs."

" In order to acquire a growing and lasting respect in society, it is a good thing, if you possess great talent, to give, early in your youth, a very hard kick to the right shin of the society that you love. After that, be a snob."

" Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings. "

"The first man to compare the cheeks of a young woman to a rose was obviously a poet; the first to repeat it was possibly an idiot. "

Then one by Michelangelo...
"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."

How I see you, and you see me

Tom Petty knows shit about Free Fallin'

I was randomly invited to go to the airport with my Dad, who has been parachuting for a long time now. He gave me the chance to jump myself. All I can say is that this is the most fulfilling, most scary, most helpless, and most euphoric feeling I have ever experienced. I would honestly say that it is an undescribable natural element. I am nearly speechless when it comes to trying to explain that feeling that you get. Bolting towards the earth, clouds passing by you, air pounding all over....and then the glide down. If you ever...and I mean EVER, get the chance to try this....you will never regret it. That is one thing I can guarantee for sure.

Revolution Po Po

On November 17th 1989, a peaceful student demonstration in Prague was severely beaten back by the riot police. That event sparked a set of popular demonstrations from November 19th to late December. Only by November 20th the number of peaceful protesters assembled in Prague had swelled from 200,000 the day before to an estimated half-million. This was the first political revolution that was bloodless, therefore the name came to be The Velvet Revolution. These are just a few images that I find extremely powerful. Its incrediable how such a peaceful demonstration affected such a long, on-going political power in such a huge way. The stand of the non-believers...

The velvet revolution of 1989.
